Hace mucho tiempo, creo que un año casi, que no escribo en este blog. He estado muy liada con otras cosas. De todas maneras, quiero haceros partícipes de algo que estoy haciendo por primera vez en esto de las miniaturas: una escena. Os dejo una foto con un anticipo de la misma para que veáis algo. Es de inspiración rústica y la he hecho basándome en la revista Miniaturas (patrones, ideas y demás) y las revistas de decoración para muebles "de verdad".

Ya me diréis qué os parece. Iré poniendo cosas cuando puedas. Feliz año a todos.

It has been a long time since the last post. A year. I have been very busy with other things. Anyway, I want you to know that I am making something very important for me: is my first scene in miniature and I want to share with all of you. I enclose a photograph of some of the furniture. I have been reading about instrucions, ideas and sizes in the Spanish magazine "Miniaturas" and the furniture it is based in magazines of decoration of "true" furniture.

Plata y oro / Silver and gold

Navegando por la red, he descubierto la web de un artesano que trabaja con plata y oro… ¡y lo hace en miniatura! Se trata de Pete Acquisto. Sus trabajos son preciosos. Lleva treinta y tres años trabajando en esto y se nota la veteranía.

Ahí va un ejemplo. Creo que expone en el festival de Casas de Muñecas de Kensington este año.

I have discovered an artisan that works with silver and gold... and he does it in miniature! His name is Pete Acquisto. His works are great. He has been working on them for thirty years and the experience it is obvious.

There is an example. Enjoy it. I think he will be in the Kensington Dollshouse Festival this year.

Zoe Baringo

Entrando en otro de los mundos que hay dentro del de las miniaturas, esta vez toca el turno a Zoe Baringo.

Esta mujer confecciona ropa infantil para bebés de escala 1:12 y de paso les hace los muebles. Si seleccionáis su nombre, podréis ver su web, donde enseña con detalles sus ropitas y el mobiliario para niños. De verdad que es una preciosidad.

Entering in one of the worlds that Miniaturas has, this time I will show you the work of Zoe Baringo.

This woman makes clothes for children and babies in 1/12 scale and makes the furniture for them as well. You can see her web by clicking her name. In it, she shows all her craftwork in details. It is really a great work.

Kensington Fair

Este próximo mes de mayo se celebra la feria de casas de muñecas y miniaturas de Kensington, en Londres. Es una de las exposiciones más veteranas, ya que lleva veinte años en funcionamiento. Si entráis en su página, podréis ver que exponen los mejores artesanos de los diferentes tipos de objetos que se hacen a escala 1/12.

Por lo que puedo ver, de nuestro país sólo irá Cristina Noriega, pero creo que eso ya es una representación muy importante, para mí es una profesional de la miniatura. Sus creaciones son maravillosas. Y, como siempre digo, como muestra un botón; aunque sea repetitivo.

Next 12th, 13th and 14th of May, in London, is going to take place the Kensington Dollshouse Festival. Is one of the most important fairs, with twenty years of exposition. If you want to have a look at its web, you will find the best artisans of all the 1/12 scale world.

The only one that will represent Spain in this fair I think is going to be Cristina Noriega. She is an expert in the world of miniatures. Her creations are wonderful. And you can have a look, again, at one of her works.

¡Hola! Después de unos meses de forzoso paro debido a mi salud, aquí estoy de nuevo. Y, como muestra, os enseño la puerta de la casa de Frodo Bolsón como representación de que se ha vuelto a abrir para mí este blog que tenía totalmente descuidado. Intentaré volver a escribir con noticias de actualidad en lo referente a las miniaturas y continuar mostrándoos artesanos veteranos y noveles que despuntan en cada especialidad.

Como veis, alguien con muuuucha paciencia ha realizado en miniatura la Casa Bolsón de la famosísima "El señor de los anillos", trilogía que a mí particularmente me gusta mucho y piensao que la versión cinematográfica es maravillosa.

Hello! After leaving the blog for some time due to illness, here I am. And I start showing you the entrance of Frodo Buggins' house, as a sign of the re-opening of that blog. I will try to write again and to inform you with news about miniatures and showing you all the artisans that I can find.

As you can see, somebody with tones of patience made Buggins' house, that belongs to the famous "Lord of the rings", book that I love and which adaption to cinema I think it is great.

En el Yahoo! Español hay un grupo, Dollshousesp de casas de muñecas y miniaturas. Allí hay una gente fantástica y unos artistas natos, que ponen toda su paciencia, esmero y talento en hacer maravillas con las cosas más inverosímiles. Hoy os ofrezco la web de una de estas personas: Matxalen. Pero para que podáis comparar lo que hace, os pongo un par de fotos de una de mis “creaciones”, para ser sinceros, creo que la única. ¡Por favor, no me critiquéis mucho! Si veis algún dedito en las fotos, es de mi hijo.

In the Spanish version of Yahoo there is a group of dollshouses called Dollshousesp. There is a lot of wonderful people and great artisans that spend all their patience and talent doing a great work with the most incredible things. You have to have a look at Matxalen’s web, she is one of them. And to compare her craftwork, here you have a pair of photographs of my work. Please, don’t be hard with me! The little finger that is in one of the photographs is my son’s finger.

Bueno, esta es mi casa una vez acabada. La pinté exactamente igual que la de la foto de la caja en la que venía… luego, leyendo revistas de casas de muñecas me di cuenta de que le podía haber sacado mucho más partido y haberla decorado con otro estilo o con otros accesorios. Pero qué le voy a hacer…

Para amueblarla ya os comenté que me regalaron los muebles y no me costó nada en absoluto. Pero para dos de los otros tres proyectos que tengo en mente para cuando tenga espacio, tiempo y, por qué no, dinero; nunca dejo de ojear revistas y de navegar por la red. Así he descubierto a esta firma alemana, Kaufmann que realmente tiene unos muebles preciosos. Si os interesa, cuando estéis en su web podéis mirar sus productos y podréis comprobar lo que os digo. Sólo le he echado una miradita pero son muy, muy bonitos. Aunque mi marido me insiste en que me los haga yo…

This is my house finished. I painted it just like the one in the photograph of its box. After that and reading magazines I knew that I could have decorated it with other styles of accessories... too late.

I told you that somebody gave me the furniture so I did not need to look for them. But for two of the other three projects that I am thinking about and when I would be plenty of time, space and, why not, money; I always look for ideas in the magazines or in the web. Doing that I have discovered this German firm, Kaufmann that has a lot of beautiful creations. You can see it by yourselves. Good night!

Comida / Food

¡Y todavía es lunes!. Para endulzar lo que queda que es mucho, he encontrado una web, Chez Minivale en la que salen comidas apetitosas donde las haya: pizza, chips, CHOCOLATE…. Por suerte de éstos hay de verdad y son más o menos asequibles a nuestro bolsillo… Entre el chocolate y el pastel de fresas que hay en uno de sus apartados…

Por cierto, si queréis ver más de estos, os doy una dirección, Aroseg,donde hay un montón con mucha mejor pinta que estos. ¡Venga, a disfrutar! Lástima que sean en miniatura... ¡vaya postres que tienen los habitantes de nuestras casas de muñecas!

Oh, heavens! Monday! Awful. To try to make sweet the rest of the week; there is a French web called Chez Minivale where you can find all kind of delicious things: pizza, cakes, CHOCOLATE (I love it!) We have to be thankful, because we can buy the commestible ones cheaper that those.

If you want to see more of them, I give you other address, this one in English called Aroseg, to enjoy the views... I love the strawberry and cream cakes! Our inhabitants are very lucky indeed!

Football hasta en miniatura

Me temo que no queda más remedio que hablar del dichoso tema del día… ¡hasta a este mundo en miniatura llega el futbol! Un artesano que vive en Sta. Coloma de Gramanet (¡un saludo a toda la gente que vive allí!) hace unas miniaturas interesantes: su nombre es Joan Cabañas y, claro, no se podía estar de hacer un FUTBOLÍN para practicar el deporte rey, que no el nacional porque ese, para mí y para muchos es… LA SIESTA!!!!! Por cierto, el futbolin que hay en la parte superior del artículo funciona igual que los de verdad.

I am afraid that I do not have other solution; today the oficial theme is football: all that you can hear everywhere is the tradicional F.C. Barcelona- Real Madrid. We have football in miniature as well! There is an artisan that lives in Sta. Coloma a city near Barcelona, that works in 1/12 scale and makes a lot of interesting things. His name is Joan Cabañas. Of course, he couldn’t resist the temptation: there is a small table football. Here it is said that the most popular sport is football... I rather another one that is typical of the peninsula...SIESTA! By the way, the table football works exactly like big ones.

Hace tiempo descubrí una web que me encantó. Aunque los muebles sean algo recargados, se ha de reconocer que son realmente preciosos. De hecho, estoy enamorada de ellos y sólo hago que soñar que algún día tendré una camita en miniatura como esas o una cunita… además de los muebles de Cristina Noriega, alguna muñeca de Carabosse… y así me va. La web se llama “Precious Pieces” Os aconsejo que le echéis un vistazo porque no tiene desperdicio. Al menos es lo que yo pienso. Esa cantidad de trabajo al menos debe ser admirada, porque los precios ya son otro cantar…

Time ago, I discovered a web that was lovely. Although furniture can look too much decorated, we must be agreed that they are really beautiful. In fact is one of the furniture I am in love with and I use to dream that I have on of those beds.... besides Cristina Noriega’s furniture, a doll from Carabosse ... the web is called Precious Pieces. You should have a look at it. This wonderful work has to be admired...

Museos/Colecciones

En Basel, Suiza, hay un museo de muñecas, el Puppenhaus Museum que tiene una gran colección de juguetes y entre ellos, Casas de Muñecas y Miniaturas. Sólo os pido que le echéis una ojeada a su página y a sus miniaturas, porque algunas de ellas tienen muchos años de antigüedad y es una pasada verlas.

También hay otra colección, pero ésta es privada, que tiene DE TODO. Su propietaria es Teresa Yu y tiene una galería llena de personajes, accesorios y demás curiosidades todas en miniatura. Es para verla, de verdad; aunque yo me ponga verde de envidia. La propietaria de esa maravillosa colección reside en Hong Kong.

In Basel, Sweden, there is the Puppenhaus Museum with a big collection of toys and, of course, Dollshouses and Miniatures. Just have a look at the web because some of the scenes have lot of years and history.

In the other side of the world, in Hong Kong, there is a private collection that has EVERYTHING you can dream about. The owner is Teresa Yu, and she has a big gallery full of dolls, accessories, scenes, teddy bears... everything in 1/12 scale.

Colleen Moore

En uno de los primeros números que compré de la revista de miniaturas a la que estoy actualmente suscrita, salió un palacio que me dejó impresionada. Se trataba del castillo de las hadas de una vieja gloria del cine mudo, Colleen Moore. Esta mujer, por lo que leí, había sido una aficionada a las casas de muñecas desde niña y cuando se lo pudo permitir se hizo un castillo en miniatura. Prácticamente casi todas las piezas de éste “castillo” son de metales preciosos y piedras nobles. Navegando, resulta que encontré la página del Museo de Ciencia e Industria en EEUU y, aparte de las fotos, están los detalles de cada estancia del castillo, amén de la historia de éste y demás detalles interesantes. Os aseguro que vale la pena contemplarlo. Ahí tenéis la habitación de la princesa, para que os vayáis haciendo una idea.

In one of the first magazines I bought about miniaturas (later on I subscribed to this magazine) there was an article about an incredible palace: it was a fairy castle that was of one actress of the happy twenties. Her name was Colleen Moore and she was mad about dollshouses. When she could, she made some artisans to build the palace for her. Almost all the accesories are Coleen’s jewellery. One day, in the web, I found the web of the Museum of Science and Industry in USA and besides the photographs of all the rooms of the castle, there are the details of it. I can assure you that is worth it to see the castle. Here you have the princess’ room.

iHola! Siento haber tardado tanto en volver a escribir algo pero llevo una semana bastante ajetreada… tengo un hijo, un marido, una casa y un trabajo y cuando no estoy trabajando mi hijito de dos años reclama mi atención al 100%.

Como he estado tanto tiempo sin mostraros nada, hoy os voy a enseñar algo verdaderamente hermoso. Se trata de unas muñecas a escala 1:12 que hace una mujer que se llama Mª José Santos. Las muñecas son preciosas. Caras, pero si tenéis la suerte de poder conseguir al menos una y os gusta la perfección, quizás os quedaríais embobados contemplándola.

Esta vez os ofrezco la oportunidad de visitar la web de unos artesanos japoneses que saben hacer casitas de muñecas occidentales a la perfección. De todas maneras, tenéis que visitar su web para ver lo bien que trabajan. Son miembres del IGMA, que creo que es una especie de gremio de miniaturistas a escala mundial. Que yo sepa, en la península hay varios miembros de este club.

Los nombres de estos artesanos son Hiroyuki y Kyoko Kimura. Tienen muchas escenas y también, como ya he dicho arriba, casas completas.

This time I offer you the chance of seeing the web of two japanese artisans that make dollshouses and all its accesories. You have to visit the web to see their wonderful work. Both of them are members of IGMA, a kind of club of artisans of miniatures of all the world.

El bebé de la foto es el primer habitante de mi casa. Es un precioso bebé que me compré en “Ananda” una tienda que está en la calle Balmes, en Barcelona. Hay de todo: casas de muñecas, accesorios, kits, muñecas de colección, juguetes de artesanos…

Navegando por la red, he descubierto unas páginas interesantes sobre los habitantes de nuestras casitas. De hecho hay webs que anuncian unas creaciones encantadoras. Empiezo con la de Carolina Artesanas. Sus habitantes son adorables, sobre todo los niños.

Continuamos con otra artesana , que hace bebés a escala. Es de EEUU … es increíble la precisión y fidelidad a la realidad de esta mujer. Sus creaciones parecen auténticos bebés de carne y hueso. La primera vez que los vi no me podía creer que fueran de escala 1/12. Comprobadlo vosotros mismos. Su nombre es Amy .

Ya seguiremos otro día con los creadores de habitantes… ¡disfrutad contemplando estos pequeñajos!

That baby is the first inhabitant of my house, he is so lovely... I bought him in a shop called “Ananda” in Balmes Street, in Barcelona. You can find everything related to this hobby: dollshouses, kits, accesories, collection dolls...

I have discovered some interesting webs about the inhabitants of our dollshouses. I still have to buy them. Let’s start with a Spanish firm called “Carolina Artesanas”. Their dolls are lovely, specially the kids.

We will continue with a North American woman that mades babies of 1/12. the fidelity of this woman to the reality is almost perfect... her creations seem really alive. The first time I saw them I couldn’t believe they were toys. Her name is Amy, just have a look at her page.

Hay muchas cosas apasionantes en cada hobby, y las casas de muñecas no iban a ser diferentes. La belleza de poseer un conjunto de salón estilo Luis XV o un dormitorio modernista también se puede conseguir en miniatura. Me viene a la memoria un maravilloso reportaje que he visto de un artesano de la miniatura que realiza mobiliario modernista llamado Jorge Soler Camus… sus piezas destilan belleza por todos los lados, ahí tenéis una muestra. Y continuando con tocadores, sillas, mesas, aparadores, etc; siempre podemos echar un vistazo a la página de Cristina Noriega: es genial. En ella pone sus creaciones a la venta y si no la habéis visitado, creo que es casi una obligación ojearla. Os encantará, de verdad. ¡Lástima que una no sea millonaria para poder comprarlo casi todo!

As all the hobbies, there is a lot of interesting things in dollshouses. You can reach the wish of having a Louis XVI saloon or a modernist room can be possible in miniatures.

In spain, there are two people that are great in these styles: Jorge Soler Camus, a great modernist artisan and one of my favourites, you can see one of his creations in the photograph; and Cristina Noriega. She makes everything in furniture: since beds until cupboards, kitchens, furniture for babies...you will love the web, sure. Is a pity that I’m not a millionaire to be able to buy everything!

Casas de Muñecas / Dollshouses

Bueno, ¿qué os parece? Este es mi casa hace unos tres años, quizá un poco antes de tener a mi hijo. Todavía no había pintado ni empapelado ni nada de nada… ni si quiera le había puesto las tejas, que pinté y pegué una a una… ahora ha cambiado mucho, ya os enseñaré la fachada un día de éstos.

Pero si queréis ver modelos de kits, por si os interesase “engancharos” a este hobby, en la web de Artesania Latina hay unos kits de casas muy interesantes y que, como la mía, que también es de esa firma, tienen claramente detallados los pasos a seguir para construirla y todos los componentes de la casa están debidamente numerados para no perderse haciéndola.

Pero para los más afortunados económicamente, unos de los maestros de esto de la construcción está en la web de Beltrán Escriva visitadla y seguro que disfrutaréis aunque sólo sea viendo los exteriores de las casas típicas de la península.

Well, that is my house three or four years ago. I was not started to decorate nor paint even I had not put the windows. One of these days, I will show you its facade.But I have to tell you that it is a typical dollhouse.

But if you want to see kits, you can visit the web page of “Artesanía Latina” were there are a very interesting models. My house belongs to this company. All the kits of Artesanía have very detailed instructions and all the components of the house are numbered.

But there is an artisan that has a web of typical Spanish houses, named Beltrán Escrivá . Of course, his houses are for people who can allow themselves to buy something very beautiful… and expensive.

For the people in the United Kingdom, I have found some adresses. I was looking for a famous shop called “The Singing Tree” in London but I haven’t been able to find it. So as I said, I foun these adresses: Denaway or 1/12 Scale Dollshouses .

CUBELLES 2006

Este pasado mes de agosto, concretamente el primer fin de semana, se celebró en Cubelles (Barcelona) la III Feria de Casas de Muñecas y Miniaturas de esa población. Fue la primera vez que visité una exposición y disfruté mucho, la verdad. Había muchas casas expuestas, a cual más bonita; y también había muchos artesanos. En esta feria de he dado cuenta de que cada vez hay más gente que se dedico al arte de las miniaturas y la casas de muñecas. También había gente que exponía muñecas de colección muy bien elaboradas. De hecho confundí un muñeco con un bebé y pensé, antes de darme cuenta de lo que en realidad era, que la madre había sido muy desconsiderada al dejar a la criatura sola delante de un puesto… fue después cuando noté que en realidad era un muñeco muy bien hecho.
A esa feria acudieron artesanos famosos y no tanto pero con un talento increíble. Estaba el puesto de Miquel Cabañas, un día de estos os enseñaré su futbolín. Y gente como Mavi, a la que conocí en el grupo yahoo de casas de muñecas y a la que le compré dos “rosales”; uno de los cuales os enseño a continuación. Si queréis saber más sobre Mavi y su obra, porque es una obra todo lo que hace, no tenéis más que mirar en la web de EL RASTRILLO DE MINIATURAS y descubriréis que las cosas buenas y bonitas que se ponen a la venta en el mundo de las miniaturas también pueden ser económicas en cierto modo. Bueno, que disfrutéis, hasta la próxima.

Last summer I visited the 3rd Exposition of Dollshouses and Miniaturas of Cubelles, a little town in Barcelona. It was the first time that I was in one of those events and I enjoyed a lot. There were almost twenty beautiful houses, all of them in different styles and a lot of artisans. I have noticed that the number of people dedicated to this world is increasing, in Spain, day by day. Besides, there were people selling artisan dolls very similar to the human children.
In the exposition there were famous artisans, as Miquel Cabañas (I will talk about him one of these days) and people like Mavi, a woman I met in the Yahoo Spanish Group of Dollshouses. I bought her two plants, you can see one of them in the photograph. ¡Hola! Soy Inés y este es mi blog sobre Casas de Muñecas y todo lo relacionado con este mundo que yo opino es apasionante.

Hace muchos años que me atraen las miniaturas de escala 1/12 pero hasta hace unos seis años no me atreví a meterme en la aventura de construir una casa: me compré una colección de esas que se han puesto tan de moda y me la hice. Quedó completamente desproporcionada y nada encajaba en su sitio. Se la di a mi primita que la desmontó en seguida. Luego me compré un kit de la firma Artesanía Latina y tardé cuatro años en hacerla. Ha valido la pena. Me regalaron los muebles y todavía me quedan muuuuchas cosas por hacer o comprar; pero lo principal ya está. Esta vez sí que resultó un éxito. Tengo dos casas más por hacer y estoy pensando en convertir una vitrina en una casa gigante.

En este blog voy a ir comentando cosas que me gusten relacionadas con este mini mundo. Sólo espero que os resulte ameno.
